The starting point is the historic wash house in the small town of Biniaraix near Sóller. Soon you reach a ford and a little later a spring with a tap (drinking water). The trail is part of the GR-221 long-distance hiking trail and, with its many walls and natural stone paving, is almost ideal for the “dry stone route” between Andratx and Pollença. The signs are accordingly good. “Lluc a peu” is on the path that believers used to travel on foot. But it also served charcoal burners, lime burners and ice makers, who brought their products down to the valley with loads of donkeys. The trail never fails to impress with the achievements of the Romans and Arabs. This includes road construction, water pipes and the many dry stone walls, which serve as terraces for growing olives. Rippling water is the dominant element. As long as there are still enough of them in spring, it is the right time for a hike through the gorge, which is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Mallorca. After 4 km of ascent, the trail turns right onto Camí Vell de Biniaraix. You should definitely take a break here. Here you can not only marvel at the beautiful waterfall, but also charcoal burners and a lime kiln. A narrow path continues uphill for a while. On the way back to GR 221, a short detour to a stalactite cave is recommended. After 8.5 km, our circular hike comes to an end and after a further 2.5 km, we reach the starting point in Biniaraix.
