From the large car park at Hotel Formentor, you head to the northernmost point of Mallorca, the Cap de Formentor or the easternmost point of the Formentor peninsula. The locals also call the peninsula the “meeting point of the winds.” The destination is on the much-photographed impressive cliffs with the highest point Fumart at 384 m, where a lighthouse, the Far de Formentor, stands. It was built in 1860-63 and is one of 13 lighthouses in Mallorca. The trail first leads over a rather flat area through a fenced nature reserve. A first highlight is certainly Cala Muro, a dreamy, secluded bay. An impressive, historic trail, the Camí Vell del Far, leads in many bends up to Coll de la Creu 285 m. Where it goes up, it goes down again. On the narrow peninsula, you can see the course of the cliffs on both sides. After an impressive 16 km and 630 m, the destination is reached, the lighthouse, which could be seen from afar. The view of the open sea or along the cliffs is indescribable. Before returning, you can enjoy culinary delights in the restaurant. Take the bus back to the starting point.
